Cross-Canada Tour Begins

By · October 27, 2010 · Filed in News · No Comments »

GASP … well … here it is, a few days before the big Global Philanthropic Canadian business development tour begins.  October 31 – November 16 ……  17 days; 18 cities; 35 scheduled meetings; and 9 receptions.

Its been a great journey so far reaching this point.  Launching a new national consulting firm is a lot of work, and crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s has required a tremendous amount of support from friends, colleagues, and family.  A special thank you to my wife Joni for her loyal support and patience during this busy time.

So why a new national consultancy?  Well, there are so many good reasons … not the least of which, is there is a strong appetite in this country for ethical, professional, and responsible fundraising advice.  I am committed to ensuring that Global Philanthropic, with its strong history and tradition from Europe and Asia, will step up to the challenge here in Canada, and provide the marketplace with this much-needed service.

The key to Global’s success overseas has been helping their clients achieve their objectives through the transformative power of philanthropy.  Global draws its inspiration from the vision and commitment of its clients, to which they have applied their knowledge of the global philanthropic marketplace. A quick look at the Global Philanthropic client list will show you who has put their trust in the Global brand.  The result has been to bring ideas and capital together to form long-term partnerships for change.  This is pretty strong language, and with strong local leadership Associates and partners here in Canada, we will see that this success works it’s magic here in Canada also.

I hope you will drop me a line to provide your support and encouragement as I move forward in this venture.  I look forward to meeting as many colleagues and friends as possible over the next three weeks.

Launch of Global Philanthropic Canada

By · September 30, 2010 · Filed in News · 4 Comments »

And so … another new chapter begins for my career.  I’m excited, and pumped.  It’s like all 30 years of my career has been preparing for this day.

Effective November 1st, 2010, Global Philanthropic Canada Inc. will begin operations in Canada, as part of the Global Philanthropic international family (www.globalphilanthropic.com).

I’m proud to be leading the team as the President & CEO, combining the strength of Global’s international experience with the strong expertise and experience of local Canadian professionals.

The launch of the Canadian operation, represents the 1st step in the North American expansion for this vibrant consultancy.  Already the largest fundraising consultancy outside of North America, this organization boasts an impressive client list.

Global Philanthropic is a worldwide group of strategic management professionals providing a diverse range of specialist services to the philanthropic sector.

The key to this company’s success in helping clients achieve their objectives is their belief in the transformative power of philanthropy. They draw inspiration from the vision and commitment of their clients, to which they apply their knowledge of the global philanthropic marketplace. The result is to bring ideas and capital together to form long-term partnerships for change.

I’m proud to be part of this exciting new organization, and excited about what it means to the Canadian non-profit marketplace.

This November I will be leading a national tour to introduce Canadians to this new firm, and to Mr. Ben Morton-Wright, founder and CEO of Global International. Check the schedule below, and plan to attend one of the open receptions in a city near you. Drop by, meet local colleagues for fellowship and networking, and hear about what Global Philanthropic can do for you.

Guy resigns from SAIT

By · June 15, 2010 · Filed in News · 3 Comments »

It is with mixed emotions that I today announce my plan to leave SAIT Polytechnic.  It has been my pleasure and honour to have worked for this institution since October 1, 1999, and I feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to work with such great people and such a great organization.

My publisher warned me that writing a book (recently released last month) would change your life, but he failed to mention that with its pending launch I would begin to look at my career from both the perspective of where it has come from, and where it is going to.

It is with regard to where my career is going to that I have been giving a lot of thought these past months.  With my ten year anniversary having just passed; the successful conclusion of the WorldSkills competition; the recent landing of the largest private gift in Canadian history; the fact that the successful conclusion to the Promising Futures fundraising campaign is in sight; and construction now well underway for the TTC, it seems a good time to move on to my next adventure.

I am excited about this journey, and my future, and am pleased to announce that with decision, I can now focus full time effort on my consulting practice – offering private philanthropic investment advice and fundraising counsel for the non-profit sector.
